REPRODUCTION

The title of trans magazin #38 is «Reproduction». In choosing this theme we were motivated by a number of topics. Reproduction with respect to the creation of social, institutional, professional identities. Reproduction as a strategy of replication, and the possibilities emerging from the difference between original and copy. We were interested in labour as part of social reproduction, female labour, architectural labour, capitalist work. We were prompted to explore the idea that collectively we are in a continuous process of making our world, and if we find shared aims, it is in our pow- er to change what is reproduced.
Ultimately, the range of proposals we received was much broader and addressed topics beyond what we had considered. In choosing which to develop, we were interested in propositional visions, not mere critique. We were interested in making a magazine which could serve as a tool as much as it can be taken in as content to be enjoyed, and we trust and believe that at least as a small contribution, this was successful. We would like to thank the authors, interviewees, and our colleagues who made the production of this edition of trans such a pleasure. We hope you will enjoy it too, and use it.
